How?

How to do it

  1. Draw a large annual wheel on paper (e.g., a circle with 12 months) or using your chosen digital tool.

  2. Discuss together:

    • When and how can exercise be integrated into the business?
    • Are there specific seasons, weekends, events, or campaigns where physical activity is particularly appropriate?
  3. Write your ideas on the wheel. Examples:

    • January: New Year’s exercise challenge
    • March: Outdoor games
    • May: Parkour school
    • September: Walking campaign or cycling day
    • December: Exercise advent calendar
  4. Assign responsibilities. Divide up who will implement and who will remind, between staff and young people.

  5. Make the plan visible. Hang the annual wheel on the wall in the youth center or share a digital version. Return to it regularly, e.g., at monthly meetings or joint planning sessions.

  6. Adapt and update. The exercise year can be developed – gather feedback and improve it based on experience.

Why?

The exercise year supports everyday well-being, increases predictability, and integrates physical activity as part of the shared culture. Physical activity improves mood, and shared experiences strengthen the community.
