How?

How to do it

  1. Choose a visible and easily accessible place for the ideas, such as a window in the youth center, a whiteboard, or a large cardboard box on the wall.

  2. Get the necessary writing materials, such as crayons or whiteboard pens.

  3. Decide on a theme for the ideas, e.g.:
“What kind of exercise would be fun this week?” or “What exercise activity would you like to try?”
Write the question clearly on the Idea Window.

  4. Encourage the young people to add their ideas. Ideas can be added spontaneously or as part of a planned activity.

  5. Follow up on the ideas that come up and document them, e.g. by photographing or writing them down.

  6. Use the ideas in planning the activities and tell the young people how their suggestions have been used.

Why?

The idea window strengthens young people’s participation and gives them the opportunity to highlight their wishes and thoughts on how to increase physical activity. When young people’s ideas are visible and taken seriously, it strengthens their sense that their voice matters. A creative approach makes participation both fun and accessible.
