How to do it
Tip! If you want, you can change the rules so that no one is eliminated, but everyone goes at their own pace with the goal of completing the entire course together.
-
Plan and set up a course with different activity stations along the way. Try to plan the course so that the distance between the different stations is the same.
-
Think about the tasks at the activity stations. The tasks should take about the same amount of time. Examples of tasks:
- Balance challenge: Walk on a rope, a line, or other narrow surface without “falling off.”
- Throwing challenge: Throw selected objects into a basket.
- Transport challenge: Balance an object on a spoon and walk a certain distance.
- Sound challenge: Imitate a selected animal sound in chorus 10 times (without laughing).
- Movement challenge: Come up with your own group movement and repeat it 10 times together before moving on.
-
Divide the young people into small groups or pairs. The groups go from station to station and perform each task.
-
When the task is complete, the group is allowed to move on to the next station.
-
If one team is overtaken by another (e.g., during the same task), the first team is eliminated from the game.
-
The game continues until only one team remains – or for as long as you want.
Tasks that require different skills strengthen the participants’ sense of achievement, group dynamics, and experience of their own skills and social belonging.
