Throw and run
30 min
Medium
Exercise bands, lightweight objects that are easy to throw (e.g., a turkey toy for dogs is fun), a sufficiently large outdoor or indoor space
6–20
How to do it
-
Divide the group into two teams: indoor players and outdoor players.
-
From the indoor team, two young people form a slingshot by standing at each end of the rubber band. A third young person throws the object onto the playing field using the slingshot.
-
The outdoor players try to catch the object as quickly as possible.
-
When the object is caught, the field players line up behind the person who has the object.
-
When the line is ready, the object is sent from the back to the front of the line between the legs. The last person lifts it up in the air as a sign that it has arrived.
-
At the same time, a selected indoor player runs around their team and collects points: one lap = one point. They can run as long as the object is moving in the line of field players.
-
When the object reaches the last person in the line, the lap ends and the points are counted.
-
Switch roles and continue for as many rounds as desired.
Strengthens emotional and social skills, such as the ability to cooperate. Builds community and gives young people positive experiences of success.
