How?

How to do it

  1. Choose a place with safe elevations or surfaces that participants can stand on without hurting themselves or damaging anything.

  2. Explain to participants that when the countdown begins, they must get off the floor before zero—e.g., by standing on a chair, sitting on a table, or climbing into a beanbag chair.

  3. Shout: “Up off the floor!” and start counting down, e.g. 5–4–3–2–1.

  4. Once the participants have gotten used to it, make the game faster by counting down from shorter sequences (e.g., 4–3–2–1, 3–2–1, 2–1…).

  5. Repeat the game a few times. If you want, you can add challenges – e.g. getting up in different ways, swapping places with a friend or standing on one leg.

Why?

The game activates creative thinking, creates fun situations, and provides a sense of achievement.
