The aim of the project is to develop a group training model for immigrants and refugees who come from difficult circumstances and who have experienced traumatic events.
The training is based on psychoeducation and exercising practical skills on how to cope in everyday situations while experiencing distressing symptoms. The aim is to enhance one's ability to control emotions, ability to function, and well-being.
The stability training combines a long-term experience of crisis work with immigrants, refugees and peer support groups in the Finnish Association for Mental Health. We develop the training in the collaboration with the Centre for Torture Survivors in Finland and the Centre for Trauma Therapy and Trauma Education and the City of Helsinki, Immigration Unit.
