As an entrepreneur, would you like to find everyday ways to strengthen your personal resources? Do you feel you need to better manage both yourself and your work on an everyday level? Would your business run more smoothly if you strengthened your interpersonal and emotional skills and your ability to be flexible during change?

An Entrepreneur’s Mental Wellbeing online course is for you, the self-employed or micro/small entrepreneur, who has noticed the first signs of coping difficulties and/or wants to strengthen their mental resources. The course will teach you to:

  1. better understand the importance of mental health for yourself as an entrepreneur
  2. identify your personal resources and take note of how well you’re coping, and find ways to strengthen these in everyday life
  3. better manage yourself and your work on an everyday level
  4. strengthen your interpersonal and emotional skills and your ability to be flexible during change.

The online course consists of self-study material, assignments and exercises, and the opportunity to exchange experiences with other entrepreneurs. The course is on MIELI’s Moodle platform. You don’t need any previous experience of Moodle, all you need is a computer or smartphone and an internet connection.

The course is made up of three modules. Each module contains self-study material, which takes about an hour to complete. To pass the course, you’ll need to work through the self-study material for each module.

You’ll also find reflection and writing exercises for each module to increase your self-awareness, as well as optional supplementary material. If you like, you can also share your thoughts and experiences with other entrepreneurs on the course, in online discussions or even remote meetings.

The course has a fixed start and end date, within the limits of which you can choose when and how long to take to complete it.  Below are more details on the course contents:

In the first module, you’ll learn why good mental health is an entrepreneur’s most important asset and what we mean when we talk about mental health. You’ll also learn about the factors that can strengthen or weaken your mental resources. The course will show you how you can affect your mental health yourself through everyday choices.

In the third module, you’ll learn how emotions guide your actions and identify emotional skills that are important for entrepreneurship. You’ll also learn how to show people respect at work and improve your interpersonal skills. Finally, you’ll get to know what change flexibility is and the different ways with which you can improve the flexibility of your own mind and your ability to cope with change.

In the second module, you’ll find ways to regulate your stress to a level you can cope with and that facilitates your work. You’ll also learn to understand the meaning of recovery from work and why it’s an important part of the work process. You’ll find different approaches to recovery. At the end of the module, you’ll be familiar with the factors that can help you continue to enjoy your work and keep up your entrepreneurial spark, and discover how you can apply  the job crafting method to your  work as an entrepreneur.
