Come on! method bank

More movement in youth work

Come on! is a method bank designed for youth work professionals, offering practical ideas to strengthen young people’s mental well-being through everyday physical activity. It serves as a tool for promoting young people’s movement in a natural way that fits seamlessly into youth work practice.

Come on! has been developed in collaboration with youth workers and experts in young people’s physical activity and mental health. The methods included are inspired by youth workers’ ideas and the everyday realities of youth work.

Come on! promotes young people’s physical activity in four different ways, based on needs identified during the development process and emerging from everyday youth work.

Method bank! offers

  • quick and easy-to-implement ideas for the moment
  • ways to add movement to encounters with young people
  • methods for engaging and involving young people, and
  • approaches for developing activity environments and organisational culture to be more movement-friendly in the long term

The tool works alongside the Active Young Person, Healthy Mind online course. The course provides a theoretical foundation on the effects of physical activity on young people’s mental well-being, which can be put into practice using the Liikutaan! tool.

The materials have been developed as part of the Youth Work as a Promoter of Physical Activity project (2024–2025), with support from the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture’s Finland on the Move programme.
